Background and Mission of the project:
SMS Venice (Saint Mark’s Square) came to life in 2008 through the united intent of The City of Venice, The Department for Architectural Landscape Heritage of Venice & the Lagoon and Fran Tomasi, events organizer. Supported strongly by the community of Venice, on behalf of the City, the project aims to raise public awareness by promoting, with the support of sponsors through donations via telephone and the web, a campaign to collect funds for the protection and conservation of the City. The privileged destination of every tourist for its unique complex of inimitable monuments, that make it a renowned World Heritage Site. This multi annual project, with far reaching cultural aims, will be conveyed through various forms of communication, donation collections and relief funds. Offering to the public, by means of technology, a calendar of events working towards the unique international relief for the restoration of such an exceptional location as Venice.
