Press Conference for Project SMS Venice 2009

Many of the heads of state and guests are present at the incredible frame of Palazzo Ducale. Spokesperson: Jim Kerr of Simple Minds.

The event took place Saturday, in the incredible frame of the Palazzo Ducale, the press conference for project SMS Venice 2009. Many of the heads of state are present of which the Mayor of Venice, Massimo Cacciari had to say straight out: "to save Venice requires a lot of imagination. In the lack of finances, above all those coming from the State, la Serenissima (the Most Serene Republic of Venice) is "constrained” to do it alone. The guardianship of Venetian monuments, heritage of humanity, in short, it is to be constructed at home with authoritative sponsors, first class testimonials, first order cultural offers, but above all promoting a rise in patronage from the bottom, even only a few euro, from everyone.”

Paola Cambiaghi, journalist and anchorwoman for Channel Rai 2, then introduced the other interventions;
Renata Codello, Supervisor of Architectural Assets and Landscapes of Venice and the Laguna, illustrated the project of restoration and the involved works of art, Fran Tomasi and Paolo Ambrosio explained the philosophy of the project and the calendar events while for the technical aspects connected to the collection of funds Marco Fellisi, Sales Director of Area North of PosteCom, stepped in.

Spokesperson for the project Jim Kerr, announced during the conference a Simple Minds concert for SMS Venice in July. And still on the calendar is an exhibit by Shepard Fairey, the American designer who created the campaign for Barack Obama, and probably performances by Carla Bruni, the singer, of cellist Mario Brunello; and maybe even a return to the Laguna of Pink Floyd.
